Hostels in Tokyo offer either Dormitory sleeping or Private Japanese-style rooms (sleeping on tatami mats and a Japanese futon).
Sleeping on a Japanese futon is actually very comfortable, so I would totally recommend the Japanese style rooms where possible.
Most hostels in Tokyo are located in a residential neighborhood, which is a Great opportunity to see how the Japanese really live.
The surrounding areas are quiet and pleasant -a welcome haven from the bustle of Tokyo Attractions.
Tokyo Subway is very well spread through the city, so it’s usually a matter of 5-10 min walk maximum to get to the station.
Japan hostels have excellent service, run by local people who will provide English maps,
guide books, tips on events & restaurants and generally make you feel very welcome.
Hostels in Tokyo are not only for the young and single.
Many families find this is a great solution as you can book 2 rooms for a very reasonable price.
Facilities in Tokyo hostels include washing machine, a shared kitchen, Japanese TV and Wi-Fi.
Shared bath and kitchens are very clean and well-kept. Cleanliness is just a very Japanese quality.
Staying in hostels in Japan is a great way to meet new friends and join up with a travel partner.
Free wireless connection and a basic complimentary breakfast Japanese style are offered in some youth hostels in Japan (you’ll have to check with each hostel specifically).
